Biographies
| Cynthia
Restivo came to
storytelling by way of theatre. She began as a professional actress in
1985, and toured western Europe with the "International Theatre"
of Vienna, Austria. When Cynthia's daughters, Lizabee and Maria,
were born the world of storytelling began to unfold. |
| Cynthia is a
registered storyteller in many regional arts councils' performance rosters
and in California's Artist-in-Residence programs. She
has shared stories and led storytelling and theatre workshops throughout
California and at the American Library in Paris, France.

B.Z. Smith came to
storytelling during her eight years as the Director of Children's Library
Services for Tuolumne County. Following this she began freelance
storytelling, and directed the "Story Tailors", California's
premiere tandem telling troupe from 1981 to 1988. |
 |
| She has
appeared on both radio and television. BZ also teaches school.
She hones her skills by telling tales to her second graders in the Sierra
foothills. |

The Story Quilters’ Upcoming Events…
Throughout the year “The Story
Quilters” present their “Stories of California’s Gold Rush” for schools that
visit Tuolumne County’s historic spots.
Many schools in central
California are working with “The Story Quilters” to present Family Literacy
Events—an evening of stories for the whole family. Often these special
nights are held in conjunction with a book fair, arts & crafts activities,
and book swaps. Contact us to learn more about planning a special night for
your school or library.
